National Voter Registration Day – Fourth Tuesday in September

The National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) established September as National Voter Registration Month in 2002, to encourage voter participation and increase awareness of state requirements and deadlines for voting.

NATIONAL VOTER REGISTRATION DAY

This year, National Voter Registration Day is Sept. 24, 2019.

Local, state and national organizations are the driving forces behind this Day, and partner organizations help to coordinate thousands of public events to bring awareness to ballot initiatives, local elections, and voter registration.

HOW TO OBSERVE

1. Register to Vote

Not sure if you are registered to vote? Have you recently moved, changed your name or had your voting rights restored? Get help at www.CanIVote.org or National Voter Registration Day.

If you are not sure which state applies to your living situation, contact local election officials for help with registering to vote. You can also visit the U.S. Election Assistance Commission website to download a federal mail-in voter registration application, which is also available for voter registration activities.

2. Once you’ve voted, use #VoterRegistrationDay to post on social media.
