Currently, in the northern United States, crime, broken neighborhoods, and failing schools have produced what experts call the great migration in reverse: black Americans moving to the South in growing numbers.
Atlanta’s booming tech scene is playing a major role in the nation’s great migration back to the south.
“It was important for us to be in a place that’s more diverse than the places that we were,” said one black entrepreneur who moved to Atlanta.
NBC’s Rehema Ellis explores the reason behind why a growing number of black Americans are moving to the South. She takes us to The Gathering Spot, a members-only club focused on building a community for black professionals to build relationships and network through various events.
